Craft Fair

November 2011: I had a successful first craft fair at the Woolfish Wool Festival at Coldstream. Bit nervous to start with. Everyone else seemed to know what they were doing. My lovely helpers got the stall looking good and people began to arrive. Good general interest from most and some stopped to chat. Flyers were picked up and products admired. The Crafthouse Galllery , High Street, Coldstream offered to stock my products. I made a steady trickle of sales. My helper and I had an afternoon gluten free cupcake so a good day all in all!

Craft Fair

October 2011: I headed over to Lanarkshire to meet Helen Damer, Country Living’s Best Cook. Helen had invited me to meet her friends for a handbag party. Arrival nerves were soon put to ease by a lovely gang of friends who admired my notebooks, handbags and mice but also and very importantly bought from me. I made my first sale and benefitted so much from their feedback and comments.

Country Living Kitchen Table Talent Awards

September 2011: Back in April 2011 I entered Country Living Magazine's Kitchen Table Talent Awards. I enjoyed putting together my entry and pretty much put it out my mind. To my surprise Emma Jones of Enterprise Nation phoned in June to say I was one of the finalists! She was very positive about my work and gave feedback that the judges thought I could make the transition to full time self-employed. I was inspired to take the plunge and try starting up in business. I am to be featured in the magazine and receive help on PR and getting my business going. A trip to London to Country Living HQ is the next step with hopefully more exciting developments to follow!

I had a lovely day in London in September meeting the Kitchen Table Talent winners and Country Living team and came away buzzing with business ideas. Now to put them into practice!
